For my media project I am making a thriller, we have been allocated 3 minutes to make a thriller of any type. Me and my class mate Will Dixon are going to film our thriller in a style called 'phsychological thriller'. A psychological thriller is characterised through the use of mind games and tricking the audience into suspense, it makes the audience unaware of what is to happen next. Films in this style are 'Final Destination' and 'Shutter Island'. Other examples of directors of this style of genre are M. Night Shyamalam and Martin Scorsese.
At the start of our movie we are going to have a close up panning shot across the room we are using, which is my bedroom. The camera will start on a rotating electric fan with diegetic noise from the fan and no other back ground noises. The panning movement will then move slowly over to my desk where it will pay special attention to a rubber, pencils, a notepad which the character is drawing in as well as an empty pot of pills.
The empty pot of pills is a center theme for our thriller as we'll use this as a motif for our character, who we have chosen to have the condition 'Paranoid Schizophrenia'.
